Lexus SC430 up for revisions

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 23rd Aug 2005

TOYOTA’S luxury division Lexus has performed a mild makeover to its SC430 coupe.

Now on sale in Japan and set for an Australian introduction next month, the SC430 features a revised grille, adaptive headlights and a new six-speed automatic transmission, the latter replacing the current five-speed unit.

The 4.3-litre V8 engine carries over largely unchanged, while the wheels are now five-spoke 18-inch alloys.

A range of new exterior and interior finishes will also be available.

Although other Lexus offerings fare well in Australia, the current model SC430 has struggled against more sportier rivals. According to VFACTS figures, just 90 SC430s were sold last year.

So far this year 56 have found buyers.
