Lexus RX goes drive-away

LEXUS Australia says its thought-provokingly named Special Edition RX350 SUV adds $6000 of added value compared to the RX350 Sports upon which it is based.

In an unusual move for Lexus, the inclusion of on-road costs in its $79,990 pricetag (which makes it $2490 more than the base RX Sports), brings the claimed value increase to more than $8500.

Specification upgrades include unique 18-inch shadow chrome alloy wheels, the choice of three unique exterior colours (Arctic Blue, Burgundy or Onyx Carbon) and an accessories pack featuring a nudge bar, tow bar, roof-racks, headlight covers, rear bumper protector, cargo mat and reverse parking sensors.

Each of the 250 examples of the LE RX will carry "SE" badging and numbered build plates, aside from standard RX equipment like full leather trim, a leather and wood steering wheel, heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate-control, cruise control, seven airbags and VSC stability control.

"RX350 SE is a very attractive package for active couples or families, and with the onset of winter RX 350 SE couldn't arrive at a better time," said Lexus Australia chief executive John Roca.

"On the financial front, RX350 SE will offer purchasers additional value in the order of $8500, a significant saving as we head towards the end of the financial year.

"The RX has long been one of Australia's most popular luxury SUVs - and we expect RX350 SE with its added extras to be one of our best-sellers over the coming months," said Mr Roca.
