EARLIER attempts by Lexus at road-going coupes were ordinary (think SC430) so the exotic, rare and impossibly expensive LFA of 2010 debuted with as much of a shock as an ice-water dunking.

Only 500 were made and it looked like the two-door experiment had ended for Lexus.

It hadn't, and now Lexus is right on track with a pretty, surprisingly sporty and thankfully affordable coupe, the RC350.

First cab off the rank in what could turn out to be a small family of RCs is the RC350. This V6 variant precedes the RC F V8, possibly a hybrid and even one with a 2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

Lexus doesn’t expect big things from the RC - or so it says - but its blend of style, quality and performance are alluring and almost irresistible to a broad audience.

More so, the price is a lot lower than its European competitors and the RC offers a load more of equipment. Better than BMW?
