THE specs tell the story best at more than five metres long and weighing in at almost three tonnes, the Lexus RX570 is big. Actually, it is huge. Even its petrol capacity is size XXL at 138 litres.

It seats seven in comfort and luxury, and the phrase ‘bells and whistles’ barely scratches the surface of its spec list.

Based on one of the world’s truly great – and genuinely talented – four-wheel-drive vehicles, the Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series, the LX570 starts life as a robust, comfortable seven-seater, while the Lexus touch adds a level of refinement and a sense of luxury you wouldn’t believe possible if you looked closely at a base 200.

Lexus Australia calls the LX570 its flagship, but we’d disagree for a start, it only sells a relative handful of units each year, which means its visibility is low.

And while it is easily the most capable off-roader in the brand’s roster, Lexus’ range of sedans and coupes show the big wagon the way when it comes to road manners.

No… we actually prefer the term ‘figurehead’ for the biggest Lexus of them all.
