AT launch the IS300 was available with just the one transmission - an intelligent, electronically controlled five-speed automatic with sequential manual electronic E-shift. The so-called Super ECT system can alter its shift patterns according to the manner of driving and the prevailing terrain. Measures were also taken to ensure smooth shifting, including the use of an electronic link to the solenoid valves in place of traditional cables, cams and throttle valves. Final drive ratio is 3.266:1. The Formula One-inspired E-shift allows the driver to shift gears using upshift and downshift buttons on the steering wheel.
