Leapmotor introduces C10 Design Long-Range

LEAPMOTOR Australia has announced the introduction of its new C10 Design Long-Range as an addition to its battery electric SUV range.

 

Offering what the Chinese manufacturer says are “significant upgrades in performance, efficiency, and charging capability”, the variant features a large 81.9kWh battery and advanced 800V electrical architecture.

 

With an upgraded battery and motor, the C10 Design Long-Range is said to deliver a total system output of 220kW/360Nm (+60kW/40Nm) for a 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 6.2 seconds. Driving range has increased to 510km (WLTP), a 95km increase over the outgoing variant.

 

As well as benefitting C10 owners on road, the revised Design Long-Range adds convenience when charging supporting 180kW DC fast charging to replenish charge from 30-80 per cent in approximately 22 minutes.

 

While equipment inclusions for the C10 Design Long-Range remain much the same as before, we now note the inclusion of two NFC keycards as standard, alongside the introduction of more advanced Yokohama Advan Sport EV tyres. A tyre inflation kit is offered in lieu of a spare wheel.

 

Paint colours include new Light White alongside carryover Jade Green, Metallic Black, Midnight Grey, and Terra Grey. Upholstery choices include Black and Camel Brown.

 

While Leapmotor Australia has not confirmed exact arrival timing of the updated C10 Design Long-Range, nor details pertaining to the C10 Style and Range Extender variants, it says the newly introduced variant will be available in Australia from an unchanged $49,888 plus on-road costs.

 

The pricing places the model in direct competition with rivals that include the BYD Atto 3 BEV (from $39,990 + ORC), BYD Sealion 5 PHEV (from $33,990 + ORC), BYD Sealion 6 PHEV (from $42,990 + ORC), Chery Tiggo 7 BEV (from $29,990 d/a), Forthing Taikon 5 (from $36,990 d/a), GAC Aion V (from $42,990 + ORC), Geely EX5 BEV (from $41,990 + ORC), Geely Starray PHEV (from $37,490 + ORC), and Jaecoo J7 PHEV (from $43,990 d/a).

 

Leapmotor has sold just 244 examples of the C10 so far this year, down 2.0 per cent on the same time in 2025.

 

The model’s sales performance places it well behind many of the rivals listed above, and a country mile from the segment’s top seller, the Toyota RAV4 (with 11,436 unit sales YTD).

 

Measuring apples with apples, the Leapmotor C10’s sales performance sits well behind the BYD Atto 3 (with 2375 unit sales YTD), BYD Sealion 5 (1776 units), BYD Sealion 6 (3094 units), Chery Tiggo 7 (4410 units), Geely EX5 (4453 units), and Geely Starray (3010).

 

Only time will tell if the improvements made to the C10 Design are sufficient to revive interest in the slow-selling model.
