LAND Rover has introduced the new TDV8 Range Rover in Brisbane, which features an all-new turbo-diesel engine for 2007.

A lightweight design based on the 2.7-litre V6 turbo-diesel, the 200kW/640Nm 3.6-litre TDV8 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in a claimed 9.2 seconds and has a top speed of 200km/h. Significantly, fuel consumption is rated at 11.3L/100km, the same as the previous BMW-sourced six-cylinder diesel.

The new engine is matched to a six-speed ZF "intelligent shift" automatic transmission. Large Brembo brakes are standard, as are technologies such as Land Rover’s Terrain Response, an electronic park brake and electronic rear differential.

Inside, the cabin gains extra storage areas, enhanced finishing, an improved dashboard and more effective air-conditioning.

The TDV8 kicks off at $140,900, with the TDV8 Luxury $165,900. The engine will also appear mid-year in the Range Rover Sport, priced from $107,900.
