New base variant for 2015 Range Rover Sport

LAND ROVER’S 2015 Range Rover Sport line-up kicks off with a new base model from $92,600, plus on-road costs, and includes a hybrid for the first time, as existing variants get extra kit for less money.

The new entry point into the range is the TDV6 S derivative featuring Land Rover’s next-generation air suspension and powered by a 190kW/600Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engineStandard features on the new base variant include 19-inch alloy wheels, reversing camera with visual guidance and hitch assist function, hard disk navigation and eight-speaker audio.

The 3.0 SDV6 Hybrid variant will be available in two trims – HSE from $146,900 and Autobiography from $165,300.

The powertrain combines the 215kW 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine with a 35kW/175Nm electric motor for a total output of 250kW and 700Nm which is able to haul the SUV from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds.

Matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission, Land Rover claims an average combined fuel consumption of 6.4 litres per 100km, which is an improvement on the 7.3L/100km figure of the regular 3.0-litre diesel.

New features are added to existing variants with SE trims getting $6860 worth of extra value thanks to 14-way power seats, front parking sensors, auto dimming exterior mirrors, automatic Xenon headlights and highbeam assist.

The HSE and HSE Dynamic trims also gain up to $6470 worth of extra value in the form of 18-way power/memory seats, 12.3-inch instrument panel, automatic headlights with high beam assist, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, configurable ambient lighting and premium mats.

Land Rover has also shaved $400-$500 off the prices of all variants across the range.

The new Stealth Pack available on the HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic trims for $4000 brings satin black touches to the mirror caps, front grille, side vent mesh and tailgate lettering. Buyers also get a choice of 21-inch or 22-inch alloy wheels in the satin black finish.

Existing powertrains are carried over and include the 215kW/600Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 unit the 250kW/700Nm 4.4-litre turbo-diesel V8 a 3.0-litre 250kW/450Nm supercharged petrol V6 and the 375kW/625Nm 5.0-litre supercharged petrol V8.

The 2015 Range Rover Sport is available to order now with deliveries in December.

Land Rover Australia confirmed to GoAuto that its fastest SUV ever – the 404kW/690Nm 5.0-litre supercharged petrol V8 Range Rover Sport SVR – is on track to arrive in Australia in March 2015, with prices announced closer to launch.
