FREELANDER steering is by power-assisted rack and pinion. Engineers paid much attention to reducing steering kickback experienced when traversing rough terrain. As a result, the power steering hydraulic system has an anti-kickback valve. The steering arms are also positioned high on the front strut bodies to reduce kickback, as the lower strut/hub carrier structure provides some torsional shock absorption. Turns lock to lock measure 3.16 and the turning circle is 11.6m.
