IF the Discovery/Range Rover series is known for anything it's the suspension - arguably still the best in the off-road world in overall capabilities. The Discovery uses live axles front and rear, as a proper 4WD should, but the use of long-travel coil springs, carefully matched with the dampers, helps provide exceptional off-road ability as well as a comfortable on-road ride. Add the optional "active" suspension and the Discovery is the next best thing to an off-road sports car.
