THE problem with producing an SUV that is as close to perfect as any of its peers is that everyone wants one.

That makes the near-perfect SUV very imperfect by being hard to source. That’s the case with the Land Rover Discovery Sport that is in hot demand around the globe.

Worth waiting for? Sure. But most sales are going to the diesel that suits its rugged SUV classification. What about the petrol?

There’s only one petrol offering – the other six are diesels – and though it can be a bit thirstier than the oiler, the Ford-made engine is brisk, smooth and quiet.
