THE LP640 is the latest and greatest Murcielago to come out of Lamborghini's Bologna factory. It is effectively the same as the existing supercar, but has been improved in several areas, not least the engine and drivetrain. The rear-mounted V12 engine now displaces 6.5 litres and pumps out a whopping 471kW (640hp) and 660Nm of torque. It is fed through a revised all-wheel-drive system which in most conditions feeds around 70 per cent of its power to the rear wheels, but can also send 100 per cent of available power to either axle to ensure maximum traction. Standard transmission is a six-speed manual, while a semi-automatic is available as an option. Standard fitment for all Australian LP640 models are large ceramic carbon brake. The LP640 costs $699,999 plus on-road costs.
