Paris show: Lambo adds another Gallardo

BY TIM NICHOLSON | 27th Sep 2012

LAMBORGHINI has injected some life into its aging Gallardo supercar range by updating the LP 560-4 and introducing the Edizione Tecnica variant of the LP 570-4 Superleggera and Spyder Performante.

The LP 560-4 update is purely cosmetic, with no modifications being made under the skin.

Style changes for the Gallardo LP 560-4 include a new sharper front end with triangular shapes dominating the face. A wide black air scoop is now the centre feature of the Gallardo’s nose.

The triangle and trapezoidal theme continues on the redesigned rear of the LP 560-4, which also gets a wider air outlet that Lambo claims helps improve the car’s “thermodynamic efficiency”.

Larger 19-inch matte black wheels are a new addition, and an optional style package adds high-gloss black paint on the underside of the front spoiler, and on both the rear and front grilles.

Topping the Gallardo range, the Edizione Tecnica variant of the LP 570-4 Supperleggera and Spyder Performante features a new fixed high rear wing as well as carbon-ceramic brakes.

The Italian supercar maker said that the updates to the 2013 Gallardo give the Edizione Tecnica one of the best power-to-weight ratios in the segment.

Three new colour combinations will be available on the Edizione Tecnica, featuring contrasting colours on the body and the A pillars and front air intakes.

Customer can choose between matte black body with orange pillars, matte white with orange pillars and an orange body with matte black pillars.

The updated models will be available internationally from November this year and will land on Australian shores in 2013.
