ARRIVING in March this year the awkwardly named Pro_cee’d GT is Kia’s first European-designed-and-built hot hatch to be sold in Australia.

Made at the Korean car-maker’s Zilina plant in Slovakia and based on the five-door Cee’d, the sporty three-door has a wheelbase which is 30mm longer than a Golf GTI but has a price tag that puts it in direct competition with smaller adversaries such as Ford’s Fiesta ST, Renault’s Clio RS, and Volkswagen’s Polo GTI.

Those are tough competitors, but will the Pro_cee’d GT be able to take the wind out of their sales? We drove the base variant to see how it stacks up.
