WE laud a Korean car for its attention to detail as about as often as a politician admits making a mistake. Pretty rarely in other words. But the Optima is a very promising car for Kia as there are a group of neat touches. Things like the neat installation under the bonnet including colour coding for refillables and well-insulated piping and wiring, a plastic surround for the bonnet prop-hole, the weighting of spring-loaded covers inside, the kick boards on every doorsill and the fully lined boot all stand out. The quality of finish is good too - there aren't too many odd panel gaps or loose, squeaking bits. Promising stuff from Kia.
