THE Optima's luggage compartment has a capacity of 386 litres, although Kia does not provide a figure for when the 60/40 (it looks more like a 70/30 to us) split-fold rear seat is laid flat, which would boost carrying capacity significantly. There are some nice touches like the efficient struts which support the bootlid, the full lining including most of the lid inner and the flat floor. The negatives are the small opening to the boot, the significant wheel arch intrusions and the lack of pockets and tiedown hooks.
