Kia Motors Australia (KMAu) gave its Optima mid-size sedan a mid-life update in 2018, lowering the cost by stripping standard specification across the two-grade line-up.

The car did however, receive a bump to safety with new features including driver-attention alert and lane-keep assist, and a new infotainment system to renew the Optima's aging interior.

Powertrain options remained unchanged with a 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated four-pot petrol engine motivating the entry-level Si, or a a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit for the range-topping GT.

The Si features as standard a six-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, rear air vents, Bluetooth, steering wheel mounted audio controls, USB charger and paddle shifters.

In GT guise, the Optima features a flat-bottomed heated steering wheel, alloy sports pedals and scuff plates, wireless phone charging, a sports package and keyless start among standard gear.
