Kia’s Grand Carnival MPV gains diesel

Priced from $41,990, which represents a $3100 increase over the 3.8-litre V6 petrol, the Grand Carnival CRDi features a 2.9-litre four-cylinder common-rail turbo-diesel engine that produces 136kW of power at 3800rpm and 343Nm of torque from 1750-3500rpm.
The diesel variant is fitted standard with a five-speed automatic transmission (with a sequential-manual shift mode), and offers a combined fuel consumption average of 8.5L/100km – a substantial improvement over the official 12.8L/100km recorded for the 184kW/343Nm V6 petrol model.
The CRDi is available across base EX, mid-series $47,990 Premium and range-topping $53,990 Platinum trim levels.
Standard equipment across the range includes dual front airbags, ABS brakes with EBD, an alarm, remote central locking, dual-zone air-conditioning, dual sliding side doors, cruise control and six-speaker CD stereo.
The Premium grade adds stability control, front and side curtain airbags, alloy wheels, leather trim and power assistance to the side sliding doors, while the Platinum features a powered rear door, a higher-grade stereo and a sunroof.
