THE transmission choices for Wrangler amount to a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic. From February, 2000, a new heavy-duty manual transmission with a synchro reverse gear replaced the standard five-speed. The transmission is coupled to Jeep's Command-Trac transfer case, which provides part-time four-wheel drive with high and low ranges. A centre differential, optional in some overseas markets, is not provided.
