Jeep’s tough guy dresses up

BY RON HAMMERTON | 21st Dec 2012

JEEP Wrangler buyers can get more bling for their buck in a new tricked-up version of the rugged American off-roader for 2013.

The Wrangler Overland – in two- or four-door forms – gets a swag of in-demand extras such as leather interior, heated front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels with Desert Dueler tyres, body-coloured three-piece hardtop and alternative black soft-top, body-coloured flares in place of the usual black, reversing camera and Uconnect Media Centre audio system with satellite navigation.

As well, automatic head lamps are standard, along with metallic interior accents.

The Overland comes only with the 3.6-litre 209kW/347Nm Pentastar V6 petrol engine (it is unavailable with the Wrangler’ CRD 2.8-litre diesel) with five-speed automatic transmission.

This model slides into the middle of the Wrangler range at $42,500 (plus on-road costs) for the two-door version and $47,000 for the four-door model.

This represents a premium of about $8000 over the base Wrangler Sport in both two-door and four-door (Unlimited) automatic guises.
