PERHAPS surprisingly, the Grand Cherokee does not have a separate chassis as preferred by most classic off-road designs. It uses a more car-like monocoque "unibody" design. Monocoques generally provide better "on-tar" performance than separate chassis designs and have been found to be more efficient for engineering superior safety.
