DESPITE its desires to be a true on and off-roader, it's still in the rough stuff where the Cherokee gains its best credits. Those short overhangs, high ground clearance and Selec-Trac four-wheel drive system ensure you can go further off-road than most of Cherokee's rivals. The change to independent front suspension has diminished ability slightly, but the payback there is in more precise on-road behaviour.
