OUT goes the 1960s-style S-Type and in comes a thoroughly modern new mid-size luxury contender for Jaguar in the form of the XF – the first sedan fully designed by noted stylist Ian Callum. As well as scoring highly on style, the XF also bristles with technology and innovation. It is a car that has clearly been created with great passion and driving the XF feels like an event. There are four models available from launch, each with different engines. The base model comes with either a 2.7-litre twin-turbocharged diesel or 3.0-litre petrol V6, the mid-range gets a 4.2-litre V8 and the flagship (until the hot XF-R comes along) has a supercharged V8.
