Jaguar reshuffles XF large car range

JAGUAR Australia has updated its XF large sedan and wagon range for the 2019 model year, dropping some variants and increasing the specification on others, which has resulted in a price increases across the range.
The British car-maker has discontinued six variants from the range (not counting the 30d S First Edition Sportbrake, that was a limited-run offering), while introducing one new version with Jaguar’s updated naming convention – the 30t 300 Sport special edition.
Dropped from the range are the 184kW/365Nm 2.0-litre petrol 25t Portfolio, both variants powered by the 177kW/500Nm 2.0-lite turbo-diesel 25d engine (Portfolio and R-Sport), the 132kW/430Nm 20d Portfolio, and the 30t Prestige and Portfolio with the 221kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. From now, R-Sport will be the only trim offered with the 221kW engine, with the exception of the limited-edition 30t Sport.
Pricing across the 12-variant range has increased across the board by $4400, except for the top-spec 35t S (+$4078) and the 30d S which has gone up $4450 in sedan and Sportbrake form.
To make up for the price hike, Jaguar has added more specification, such as bright metal pedals, premium carpet mats, a surround-view monitor, satellite navigation, pro services WiFi, and a suite of features for the InControl smartphone pairing app.
All variants except for 300 Sport and R-Sport score metal tread plates with branded script, while all bar the R-Sport gain a suede cloth headlining.
With the removal of the Portfolio, three specification levels remain on the XF starting with the Prestige that comes with 18-inch Fan-style wheels, 10-way electric adjustable leather front seats, dual-zone air-conditioning, electrically adjustable steering column, keyless entry and start, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, analogue instruments with 5.0-inch information display and 308W sound system.
The R-Sport gains 19-inch wheels in a different style, sports leather with Tech Mesh sections, black roof-lining, sportier interior trims and R-Sport-branded tread plates.
Top-spec XF S variants have black 19-inch Blade wheels with machined faces, a combination of leather, suede and synthetic leather interior furnishings and Grey Figured Ebony interior veneer complemented by Dark Hex textured dash finisher.
Three turbo-petrol engines are available, including a 2.0-litre in 147kW/320Nm or 184kW/365Nm tune, and a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 outputting 280kW/450Nm.
Two turbo-diesel engines are on offer, down from three, consisting of a 132kW/430Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 221kW/700Nm 3.0-litre V6.
With one month left in 2018, Jaguar has sold 211 examples of the XF, down 11.7 per cent over the 239 it sold to the same point last year.
It currently sits fourth in the luxury large car segment, behind the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (1427), BMW 5 Series (731) and Audi A6 (234).
