Hyundai streamlines Terracan SUV range

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 20th Feb 2007

HYUNDAI has streamlined its Terracan range to just one model, available in either petrol or turbo-diesel guises.

The SLX model comes with modest revisions to the heavy duty off-roader.

Previously Hyundai offered GL, GLS and top-shelf Terracan Highlander variants.

SLX is available in the three most popular Terracan paint colours (white with silver bumpers and side cladding, silver with grey highlights and solid black monotone) and, like all Terracan grades, is also offered in both manual and automatic guises.

Based on the basic Terracan GL, the SLX adds a new body-colour roof spoiler and matt black side steps with alloy chequerplate inserts for an extra $1000.

The SLX is also fitted with the GL’s cloth interior trim and features the same part-time, dual-range 4WD system.

Standard equipment includes air-conditioning, cruise control, alloy wheels, a full-size alloy spare, twin front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, MP3-capable CD/FM/AM audio, remote central locking, alarm, power windows/mirrors, four 12-volt power outlets and roof rails with integrated crossbars.

There are no changes to either the 120kW/345Nm 2.9-litre 16-valve DOHC common-rail turbo-diesel four-cylinder or the 143kW/302Nm 3.5-litre 24-valve DOHC petrol V6.

According to Hyundai, CRDi variants have accounted for more than 95 per cent of Terracan sales since the model’s launch two years ago.

2007 Hyundai Terracan pricing:
SLX V6 $36,490
SLX V6 (a) $38,590
SLX CRDi $38,490
SLX CDRi (a) $40,590
