Seven-seat Santa Fe SUV updated for 2022
HYUNDAI has upgraded its seven-seat Santa Fe SUV for 2022, with the revised range receiving extensive safety, comfort and convenience upgrades – as well as modest price increases.
Now beginning from $45,550 (plus on-road costs), the entry level versions of the Santa Fe line-up are $850 dearer than in 2021, while the asking prices of mid-grade Active and Elite derivatives have increased by $1450 and $1700 respectively to start from $49,750 (+ORCs) and $56,000 (+ORCs). The range-topping Highlander jumps $850 to now retail from $62,550 (+ORCs).
Meanwhile, the step up to turbo-diesel power and all-wheel drive costs $3500, while premium paint remains a $695 option across the range. A Cognac Brown interior is available on Elite variants and a Camel interior on Highlander versions. Both are a $295 option.
The Hyundai Santa Fe continues to undercut its twin-under-the-skin Kia Sorento, which is now available from $47,650 through to $80,330 (+ORCs).
Safety upgrades see all Santa Fes equipped with a centre airbag and multi-collision brake (MCB) as standard. A third-row USB port is now fitted, while Active derivatives gain a new chrome exterior treatment. Elite derivatives additionally feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, heated front seats, as well as LED tail-lights.
The large SUV’s mechanical package remains unchanged. The Santa Fe is powered either by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine – in conjunction with front-wheel drive – or a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit (in combination with Hyundai’s sophisticated H-TRAC all-wheel-drive system). Both powerplants are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Entry-grade Santa Fe derivatives come equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels (with a full-size spare), cloth upholstery, auto LED head- and daytime running lights, adaptive cruise control (with Stop & Go), a rear-view camera and reverse parking sensors, wireless device charging, as well as an 8.0-inch infotainment array with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Active variants have 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-appointed upholstery, keyless entry and start, auto wipers, power folding mirrors, puddle lights, rear privacy glass and front parking sensors.
Elite derivatives are equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, solar glass, rear curtains, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, plus a 10.25-inch infotainment array in conjunction with premium Harmon Kardon audio.
Finally, range-topping Highlanders additionally feature heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, blind-spot monitor, electrically adjustable front seats (with driver’s seat memory), Nappa leather upholstery, 360-degree camera, LED projector beam headlights and LED tail-lights, head-up display, a 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster, and panoramic sunroof.
Hyundai continues to offer its iCare five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with roadside assistance and capped-price servicing across all passenger models. The Santa Fe requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km (whichever comes first). Petrol models cost $399 to service at each interval while diesel models cost $459.
