HYUNDAI Motor Company Australia (HMCA) is one of the few players in the mid-size market to have two contenders – i40 and Sonata – in the mix. Sometimes such a strategy can work, but at other times, it can merely serve to divide and conquer your own customer base.

With this Series II tweak to its i40 range, HMCA has taken steps to push the two a little further apart in reach and aim, deleting the petrol sedan variant of the i40 and revising prices downwards across the board.

The running changes are small, but interestingly, HMCA has taken the step of further refining and improving the ride and handling package for Australian conditions.

Have the changes made the i40 a more viable player in a crowded, competitive mid-sized sector?
