Hyundai updates i30 Sedan N for 2024

BY MATT BROGAN | 10th Jan 2024

HYUNDAI has announced details of its updated i30 Sedan N for 2024, the model arriving imminently with an aggressive exterior restyle, lightweight 19-inch forged alloy wheels, minor chassis tweaks, and additional technology highlights.

Pricing for the MY24 variant begins at $52,000 plus on-road costs, or $1800 more than the outgoing model. A sunroof remains the only option ($2000) alongside premium paint $595. Hyundai offers the i30 Sedan N as standard with the choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed dual-clutch transmissions.

Offered in a single, highly equipped trim grade, the all-inclusive package now includes a look inspired more heavily by Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language. At the front, a lower and wider impression is created by a new split grille, which also serves to improve engine and (front) brake cooling.

New lightweight 19-inch forged alloy wheels are said to heighten the handling and image of the i30 Sedan N, while a “deeper and more pronounced” rear bumper design features a wrap-around lower red stripe (or grey when optioning Ultimate Red paint) to create an equally sporty impression at the rear.

The look is capped-off with aluminium badges finished in black.

Hyundai will offer the i30 Sedan N in a choice of seven paint finishes, including its signature N-signature Performance Blue. The remaining hues include Atlas White (solid), Cyber Grey, Ultimate Red, Intense Blue, Ecotronic Grey, and Abyss Black.

Further enhancements to the MY24 model include a reinforced engine mount membrane for reduced vibration and improved stability, G-bushing reinforcement for improved yaw response and steering precision, and new rear suspension insulation for improved damping and yaw response.

Hyundai has also adjusted the electronic damping of the i30 Sedan N to “deliver enhanced body control” while at the same time adjusting the motor-driven steering system to enhance feedback and directness.

In addition, the i30 Sedan N has undergone a series of braking performance upgrades to improve resistance to fading, while also receiving upgraded stability control software and a new thermal protector on the front brake hoses.

On the technology front, the 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N introduces additional features including intelligent speed limit assist – which uses navigation data and road sign recognition to inform the driver of the speed limit – a revised wireless device charger designed to accommodate larger devices, additional USB-C outlets front and rear, and, for the first time in a ‘N’ model, Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car services.

Hyundai Bluelink is complementary for the first five years of ownership and includes automatic collision notification, emergency call (SOS) function, connected routing with live traffic updates, alert services including geo-fencing, valet mode, speed and time alerts, remote climate control, navigation send-to-car, voice recognition for point of interest look-up and vehicle controls, live weather information, and vehicle settings management.

Power for the Hyundai i30 Sedan N continues to arrive courtesy of a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit developing 206kW of power and 392Nm of torque.

“(The) 2024 i30 Sedan N showcases Hyundai’s commitment to bringing motorsport engineering and technology to our road cars, drawing from our TCR Series successes around the world,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia chief executive officer, Ted Lee.

“With its upgraded chassis, aggressive style, and new features, the 2024 i30 Sedan N provides an even more engaging and dynamic package for our N-thusiast customers.”
