HMCA opts for i30

HYUNDAI Motor Co Australia (HMCA) will follow Europe and call its new Elantra-based hatchback the i30 when it arrives Down Under in October.

Marketing general manager Oliver Mann told GoAuto this week that the sedan would continue as the Elantra for an indefinite period and that there was no decision made on whether Australia would also adopt the South Korean brand’s alpha-numeric naming convention for other cars such as the Getz (i10), Accent (i20) and Sonata (i40).
