THE third Hyundai to receive the warmed-over SR treatment is the Elantra small sedan, which was subject to a particularly intense and thorough program of Australian tuning to ensure its suspension and steering would suit local tastes. It worked.

No doubt being able to work off a strong base helped, because the Elantra SR Turbo is astonishingly competent when the going gets twisty, yet maintains excellent ride comfort and control for day-to-day duties.

That, combined with its fuss-free nature and sheer ease of use, makes the Elantra SR Turbo such a pleasure to live with that we can easily forgave a few minor shortcomings.
