LAVITA uses the same 1.8-litre DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine used on the base-model Elantra sedan and hatch, though it has been retuned for more pulling power (or torque) lower down in the rev range. As a result, maximum power and torque outputs are below other Elantra models, down 7kW to 90kW at 6000rpm and 4Nm to 161Nm at 4500rpm. Official fuel consumption data points to 9.0 litres per 100km on the theoretical city cycle and 6.0 L/100km on the highway, using normal unleaded petrol.
