HSV launches limited edition Senator SV

BY DANIEL GARDNER | 16th Feb 2015

HOLDEN Special Vehicles (HSV) is producing a strictly limited version of its Senator luxury sedan, dubbed the SV, with unique styling features for a “more brooding edge”, priced from $83,990 before on-road costs.

With a limited run of just 50 cars allocated for Australia and two for New Zealand, the Senator SV is based on the Senator Signature but adopts a selection of “pitch black” exterior styling accents and a unique wheel design for a subtle but exclusive look.

The Senator SV's 20-inch forged wheels are a special 5x2-spoke design and, like the Signature version, sit over large disc brakes with AP Racing forged four-piston callipers.

At the front end is a black grille replacing the chrome Signature version, while side wing vents, mirror caps, window surrounds and boot-lip spoiler get the same treatment. A set of “shadow-chrome” exhaust tips complete the smoked-out look.

Performance compared to the unlimited Senator Signature is unchanged with the same 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engine hiding under the bonnet producing 340kW for the back wheels.

Power is dealt with by a standard six-speed 6L80E automatic transmission but a TR6060 manual gearbox with the same number of speeds is available for no extra cost.

Occupants are reminded of the vehicles special features with Senator SV sill plates, while the dash mounted 8.0-inch touchscreen displays the vehicle's SV identity and individual build number on start-up.

HSV styling and design chief Julian Quincey said the local team welcomed the challenge to create a unique Senator-based HSV.

“We wanted to introduce styling enhancements that further accentuated the vehicle’s street presence and exclusivity,” he said.

“We were keen to take Senator Signature’s luxury/performance positioning and deliver a darker, more brooding edge to its styling.”Production of the HSV Senator SV starts this month with the new variant on sale now and until the limited run of 50 units are spoken for.
