PAYLOAD is a better word than luggage capacity when referring to how much you can haul in a ute. A base-spec automatic V6 Commodore Ute has the best payload capacity of its model line at 830kg, while that figure drops 655kg in the range-topping automatic V8 SS ute. The Maloo is clearly built for speed rather than hauling spanners, as its payload is a piddling 490kg in comparison. For keeping the weather off any cargo, the Maloo has a soft tonneau with HSV logo, while the Maloo R8 is fitted with a hard tonneau featuring three accent-coloured ribs or "spears" to break up the expansive lid, as well as a rear spoiler. The hard tonneau minus the spears and rear spoiler is an option on the Maloo. The tray is fitted with a plastic cargo liner that features an HSV logo imprinted into the cabin wall section.
