MALOO and Maloo R8 are both offered with the choice of a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The T56 six-speed manual and Turbo Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed auto are both categorised as high torque capacity units by HSV. The automatic has been recalibrated with more performance-oriented shift change points, compared to the same transmission in Holden's V8 models. The final drive ratio for manual models is 3.73:1, while for the auto it is 3.07:1.
