THE styling of the Maloo brings together the clean lines of Holden's Commodore-based VU utility and the aggressive nature of the HSV's VX body kit design. The Maloo was the first styling effort of Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) chief stylist Neil Simpson, who took over the role of styling HSVs from Ian Callum after the VX range was completed (the VU Maloo post-dated the VX range by about six months). The Maloo's trademark sailplane is now integrated with the rear of the cabin, rather than extending back into the tray area on previous models. While it does not standout as much for that reason, the VU Maloo still has a far greater road presence than any of its Maloo predecessors, courtesy of its good-looking, contemporary VT-VX Commodore-based body.
