HSV extends Colorado SportsCat warranty

HOLDEN Special Vehicles (HSV) has announced a five-year/unlimited-kilometres warranty for its first model in the post-VFII Commodore era, the Colorado SportsCat dual-cab pick-up.

The new peace-of-mind agreement includes five years of roadside assistance and applies to all new and demonstrator Colorado SportCats sold in Australia from July 1.

This move follows that of GM Holden, which at the start of this month revealed its plans to offer a permanent five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with five years of roadside assistance for private and ABN buyers.

According to HSV managing director Tim Jackson, the reception for the Colorado SportsCat has already been positive, with the extended warranty to enhance its value.

“We’ve been delighted with the level of acceptance of our first new foray into the 4x4 pick-up market,” he said.

“The availability of a five-year warranty, with five years roadside assistance, will only further strengthen the vehicle’s appeal.”

HSV’s sole current model is available in entry-level SportsCat ($60,790 before on-road costs) and flagship SportsCat+ forms ($66,790) with a manual gearbox, while an automatic transmission adds $2200 to either price.

The Colorado SportsCat range went on sale in February this year and ups the ante with a bodykit, front sport seats, a rear decoupling anti-roll bar, AP Racing brakes, Cooper Sports all-terrain tyres and an optional SupaShock suspension (SportsCat+ only).

Ford Australia’s Ranger Raptor will be the Colorado SportsCat’s main rival when it hits showrooms in October with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty of its own, although it instead offers up to seven years of roadside assistance.

Sales of the Colorado 4x2 and 4x4 have taken a hit in 2018, with 9633 examples sold to the end of June – an 11.0 per cent decrease over the 10,825 deliveries made during the same period last year.
