First look: Honda heralds new NSX

HONDA will give its strongest hint yet to the next generation NSX supercar when it reveals the oddly named, radically styled HSC concept in Tokyo this week.

Little is known about the two-seater successor to one of the world's original supercars. But while the next generation NSX coupe is expected by some to appear in production form next year with a 3.0-litre 300kW V8, the official words is the next NSX will continue with an all-new or upgraded version of the current car’s V6.

Honda's pre-release press material offers no further clues, with an (under)statement that accompanied the first pictures saying: "HSC offers the driving pleasure of a sports car".

While the long-rumoured rear-drive V8 luxury sedan replacement for Legend is unlikely to surface at Tokyo, alongside the HSC will be an all-new Odyssey people-mover and a facelifted, US-market 2.2-litre S2000 (see separate story this section), plus an eight-seat monospace concept dubbed ASM, a hybrid sports concept called IMAS and a fuel cell sedan named Kiwami.
