HONDA is the economy car expert par excellence, as the original Civic demonstrated to devastating effect back in the mid 1970s. Similarly, the 2002 Jazz showed the others how to build and present a light car, without making the owner feel as if they have skimped on quality. Now there is a new-generation version, with more power, safety, space, refinement, and strength, bundled up in an attractive and extremely easy-to-live-with package. We spend a long time in the cheapest version – the manual GLi – to see if Honda is still at the top of its game.
