EXPENSIVE, divisive, compromised inside and mediocre in its performance and road manners. The two-seater Insight is all of those things. And much more. A step back from the minutiae reveals the first petrol-electric hybrid production car on Australian roads and a revelation in terms of frugal fuel consumption and ultra-low engine emissions. No-one expects it to sell up a storm. But as the first nail in the coffin of the internal combustion engine, it deserves our attention.
