COMPROMISES were made in keeping the Insight as lightweight and cheap as possible. The steering wheel does not adjust for height and reach, while the front seats simply recline and move fore/aft. With the dash tilted toward the driver, the ventilation and stereo controls are within easy reach. Electric mirror and power window switches are located to the right of the instrument panel, alongside the fuel consumption display (FCD) button. The stalk on the left-hand side of the steering column is used for wipers (front and rear, no variable intermittent) the right is used for lights and indicators. A remote fuel lid lever is situated in the driver's footwell, an area where a driver's footrest is conspicuously absent. The seatbelts and head restraints are not adjustable.
