THE Insight two-seater liftback looks unorthodox, to say the least, but its shape was formed to provide as little wind resistance as possible. The engineers have achieved a drag coefficient of just 0.25Cd, making it one of the slipperiest cars in the world. The low, rounded nose, integrated (halogen) headlight assemblies, steeply raked windscreen, fender skirts over the "dinner plate" rear wheels are examples of where air turbulence is minimised. Even the rear track is 100mm narrower to promote smooth airflow. Large glass areas, including a glass panel in the rear hatch, aim to ensure good visibility in all directions.
