HR-V uses conventional power-assisted rack and pinion steering. The system features a compact rotary valve for sensitivity to hydraulic pressure control.

The amount of power assistance is automatically controlled in accordance with the front wheels' resistance to steering force. This helps with positive steering feeling, linear steering response and straight-line stability. Turns lock to lock measure 2.75 and the turning circle is a reasonable 10.0 metres.
