Sydney show: Sports 4 for Honda

HONDA'S Sports 4 Concept, revealed yesterday in Sydney, gives some idea of what the next-generation Accord Euro will look like.

A star of the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, Honda claims the Sports 4 "points the way to future Honda sports sedans, featuring a sleek, bold exterior, equally futuristic interior and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive" (with the awful acronym SHAWD) and exhibits the company’s "keen edge dynamics".

Seen in the new Legend, SH-AWD distributes torque between the front and rear wheels with a 70/30 or 30/70 split, while at the same time controlling torque distribution to the two rear wheels within a range of 100/0 or 0/100 side to side.

Inside, the Sports 4 features independent sports seats and electrically controlled personal sunroofs for each passenger.

The car is 4580mm long, 1850mm wide and sits on a 2700mm wheelbase. By comparison, the current Accord Euro is 4665mm long, 1760mm wide and has a 2670mm wheelbase.

Apart from the Sports 4 and Legend, Honda Australia is exhibiting its updated Accord VTi.
