THE Vectra GL sedan features a transversely mounted, 2198cc, double overhead camshaft, four-cylinder ECOTEC engine, delivering 104kW at 5200rpm and 200Nm at 4000rpm. Known as the Family II engine, it produces 90 per cent of torque between 2000rpm and 5600rpm. Independent acceleration figures put the GL (automatic transmission) ahead of its closest rivals, with a 0-100km/h time of 10.0 seconds and 0-400m in 17.5. It runs on 91 or 95 RON ULP.
