HOLDEN scores again with a formidable contender in the big Australian luxury car market. The new Statesman/Caprice models take on a less US-inspired look than before, yet provide interior dimensions that top the stretched-wheelbase saloon car class. The overall balance of the car is helped by the new lightweight, 5.7-litre V8 engine that promises better economy as well as astounding power. A well-sorted chassis provides a comfortable ride and surprisingly agile handling. Bulky but well suited to its role on Australian roads.
