RODEO is fitted with front ventilated discs and rear drum brakes. The brake system is of the vacuum-assisted dual circuit type and operates via a tandem master cylinder controlled by a load sensing proportioning valve.

The LT Sport has a gross vehicle mass rating of 2740kg and a gross combined mass of 3740kg, which will test the brakes for sure.

The test vehicle was driven unloaded and though it is true that vehicles of this type - with heavy-duty suspension - often travel better loaded, the vehicle proved difficult to bring to a quick stop without locking the rear wheel on the driver's side.

This may have been due to poor brake adjustment but is a characteristic trait of rear drum brakes.
