COMMODORE'S steering has long been the brunt of criticism because of its lifelessness and is an area that Holden spent much time addressing for Monaro. First, the steering was given a sportier and more precise feel by slowing the steering gear ratio by 13 per cent and increasing the stiffness of the torsion bar within the steering gear valve by 14 per cent. Combined with slightly more power assistance during steering lock, the slower steering gear - now with three turns lock to lock - is said to require less effort in tight parking situations as well as better on-centre precision and feedback. It does.
