Holden moves to permanent five-year warranty

GM HOLDEN has upped its permanent warranty offering to five years and unlimited kilometres, matching the offer of its rival Ford.
Holden has been advertising retail offers of seven years and unlimited kilometres on a number of its models since October last year, but the five-year term is now permanent.
The new offer of five years and unlimited kilometres is for all private and ABN buyers, while government, fleet and rental buyers are capped at 200,000km.
Ford increased its warranty from three to five years and unlimited kilometres in May this year, but both offers are not as lengthy as Kia’s seven-year/unlimited kilometre plan that is the longest of the mainstream car-makers.
The Holden program now matches the warranties offered by Honda, Hyundai and Skoda.
Tesla has an eight-year/160,000km warranty period on electrical and mechanical defects that compliments its eight-year/unlimited kilometre lithium-ion battery promise and it is currently the longest on the market.
Holden chairman and managing director Mark Bernhard said the company has confidence in its model line-up and this new offer will give buyers peace of mind.

Holden recently announced that it would return to the automotive finance market with its Holden Financial Services arm.
The new warranty falls under the Holden Complete Care customer package that also includes the Take Your Time Test Drive where a customer can take a car for 24 hours, five years of roadside assistance, a transparent servicing program and a rental service.
Holden closed its Australian manufacturing operation in October last year and transitioned to an sales and marketing operation with models imported from North America, Thailand, Europe and South Korea.
Its current model line-up includes the Barina, Astra, Commodore, Trax, Equinox, Captiva, Trailblazer and Colorado.
