Commodore Executive goes dual-fuel

AS RISING petrol prices continue to dent its large-car sales, Holden has announced a dual-fuel version of its 3.6-litre Alloytec V6 engine will become available in the Commodore from October.

Based on the Executive sedan and station wagon models and outputting an identical 175kW at 6000rpm and 320Nm at 2800rpm, the LPG-powered Commodore uses sequential vapour gas injection, which Holden explains injects gas directly into the air intake runner, eliminating excess gas circulating through the air intake system.

The company claims the system gains further efficiencies by mimicking the petrol injection sequence.

To be priced from $37,550 for the sedan and $40,660 for the wagon, the dual-fuel Executive meets Euro2 emission standards and its LPG fuel economy is claimed to be 14.4L/100km for the sedan and 14.8L/100km for the wagon.

Petrol fuel consumption figures remain at 11.1/11.3L/100km for the sedan and wagon respectively.
