AMID the drama and heartbreak of Ford’s decision to discontinue the Falcon in late 2016 comes one of the most compelling reasons to keep the great Australian family car alive – the new base VF Commodore Evoke.

Replacing the long-lived VE Omega and Berlina series in one swoop, the newcomer has the unenviable task of slowing the mass large-car market exodus.

After 1500km-plus in the impressive base (but hardly bare-bones) Commodore, we reckon Holden might even be in with chance.
